I have read part of Tiny Beautiful Things, and I love it so far. It's one of those books I can dip in and out of. My stepdaughter had to read Cod for an honors class a couple of years ago, and she thought her teacher had LOST HER MIND. But she ended up appreciating it in the end, I think. Great choices! No library books for me this week. I spent too much time buying, unfortunately.

I found this very readable; her style reminds me of Anne Tylers and, as with some of Tyler's novels, I found myself just contentedly reading along and, then, seemingly suddenly, quite attached to the characters and engaged with their stories.
A double Oh! for Jo Walton: I completely agree. Soooo bookish. I loved it. Am intrigued by your comments on both The Thorn Birds (only read the juicy bits when I was a girl, and I suspect there's not much too them from an adult's perspective) and Prince of Tides, as I have both on my shelves, neglected, but not want to pick them up. Will be interested to read your thoughts on the Kingsolver novel as I've not yet read it either. Great combination of books for your "quiet" reading month!
